10 Months

10 Months photo 1

Emily is becoming more like a toddler and less like a baby every day. I can't believe my sweet little Emily is going to be one year old in just two months! Emily had a bit of a tough month with back to back ear infections. She has a follow up appointment next week to make sure everything has cleared up and back to normal. Hopefully this new antibiotic that she is on will finally do the job! Even though she has been dealing with ear infections for most of the month she has still been sweet and full of energy (except for a few sleepless nights). She is never still and always busy! Crawling is still her main mode of transportation. She had one big weekend of lots of steps and then regressed back to crawling. I have been trying to get her to walk more but she does not like when I push her to walk. Every time I coax her, she picks up her legs and just sits down in protest as if to say "leave me alone mama - enough already!!" The only time she walks now is at random and on her own terms. I think Emily is going to be stubborn and independent. I wonder where she gets that from?

Emily is also babbling a lot and spends most of the day talking. I love it. I am so curious about what she is trying to say. Sometimes she gets a look on her face like she is trying to say something very important. It cracks me up! I am discovering more and more every day that she understands a lot of what I am saying. She definitely knows Mama, Dada and Mella. She also knows ball, baby, light and tree. I am sure she knows more words but those are the ones I am sure of now.

Walking!

Emily has started walking! For the past week or so she has been lunging forward on her own or taking just a tiny little step or two, but nothing that I would consider true walking until now. She has taken several full, consecutive steps on her own today. She was chasing Mella and took 4 big steps. I think she would have gone longer but I started screaming and scared everyone in the house. She has walked several times since then. I bet she will really be walking all over the place by the time she is 10 months! Hooray Emily!

Ben is trying to study in the playroom while I make dinner. I don't think he is getting much done...

Are you kidding me??!!

Sorry, no picture of Emily here. Just a short post to vent.

Emily sits in a car seat when we are in the car. It takes about 1 or 2 minutes to get her buckled in the seat. While I am putting her in the seat, I have to leave the car door open so that I have room to put her in and buckle her up properly. Some crazy lady was not happy about that this morning. The parking spot next to me was empty and she wanted to pull in but was waiting for me to close my car door first. There were ROWS of empty spots about 20 feet away but this lady felt it was worth waiting for a spot that was a few feet closer. She was laying on her horn and waving her arms in the air with anger. HA! The best part is that we were at the gym. The place where you go to get exercise. So not only did this lady decide to forgo the extra 10 seconds of exercise to park a little closer, but she decided to stress out herself and me in the process. It was so unnecessary that it was comical. Way to go crazy lady!
