6 Months
We had Emily's 6 month check up today and everything went very well. She came down with the flu earlier this week ( not fun!) but she was completely recovered today. Emily is now 26 inches long and 14 lbs and 7 oz. That puts her in the 60th percentile for height and 25th percentile for weight. Her weight has dropped down the percentile chart quite a bit since birth, but the doctor assured us that it is not a problem and that she is healthy and growing. It is just a little surprising considering her birth size. I mean, the first thing the doctor said when Emily was born was "Whhoaa, that's a big girl!". So this new petite status is a turn of events. She has some long feet like me though so its not over yet!
Emily's latest development is her ability to scoot/army crawl. She started pulling herself towards toys about a month ago, but it has now progressed to an army crawl. She moves the quickest when I have my back to her or when you place a remote, iphone or laptop on the floor. I guess she takes after her dad and has already developed a love of electronics. She is also sitting up well but cannot pull herself up on her own from laying to sitting yet. But I''m sure that will change soon too.
Emily is now eating cereal twice a day and is about to start some level 1 and 2 baby foods with her cereal. We have already tried some pears, but will be introducing more foods this week. Emily has also just started drinking formula. She is not drinking it straight yet, the doctor recommended mixing it in with breast milk at first. So we did that and she took the bottle of half and half just fine. I was very excited about that! Hopefully we will be able to give her the formula on its own pretty soon. Emily really is a good baby and adapts well to changes. Thank goodness! She's had a lot of developments in the past six months, but I think the coming months are going to bring the biggest changes yet. I can't wait!
Happy 6 month birthday Emily!!
