Mark is already 3 months old. I can't believe it! The newborn phase is sweet and special, but I think 3 to 9 months is even sweeter. He is still small enough to cuddle with, can't talk or walk yet but is old enough to interact. I like this stage! We just got back from a follow up doctor's visit and Mark is 25 inches long and 13lbs even. That puts him in the 85th percentile in height and 25th percentile in weight. Mark is still sleeping well at night. Bedtime is 8 and he usually only wakes up once between then and 5:30/6am. We've had 3 nights where he slept straight through but more often the deviation goes the other way. He still takes three naps that are about 1 hour each and usually one of those naps overlaps with Emily's nap! Mark is smiling a lot and I think I've heard the beginnings of a laugh. I'm expecting a belly laugh any day now. Can't wait! His biggest development this month is grabbing and picking up toys. He will look at his toys and really work to pick it up and bring it all the way up to his face and into his mouth. He is very patient and really concentrates to pick up the toy and continues to work at it no matter how many times he drops it. He really likes to play with toys more than Emily did at this age. Emily was more amused if I picked up the toy for her. But Mark's attention is more focused when playing with the toy himself. I'm not sure if that is personality, gender, or if he just has more opportunity to explore on his own than Emily did at this age. But either way it will be interesting to see if those styles hold true for both of them. Mark still loves it when Emily and I sing songs to him and he really loves when I read books to him too. Especially books with bright colors! I worry about him not getting as much one on one time, but I know he is experiencing so much more just by watching all the activities we do with Emily. Here are a few pictures of Mark at 3 months. I've also added a picture of the sweet big sister who is 23 months today. I don't even know where I would begin on developments for Emily lately. To sum it up she is basically at full grown person status and can do and say just about everything we can. Fun and scary at the same time! I will save a full update on Emily for next month when she turns 2.
