School pictures and Spanish class for two year olds
Emily's school pictures arrived Friday. This is an iPhone photo of the prints so it won't look as good as the real thing but it works.
This pose makes me laugh. She looks like a teenager.
We love Emily's new school this year. She gets to do all kinds of fun things like "movement" class, music class, chapel, art class and Spanish class in addition to their regular classroom activities. These ancillary classes are taught by specialized teachers and at parent night they each talked about their curriculum. It all sounds great and I think it is a fantastic program, but when it comes down to it Emily is still just a two year old. When she got home she showed me a worksheet from Spanish class. Our conversation probably gives an accurate representation of the whole Spanish class for two year olds experience.
Me: "Oooh, did you make this in Spanish class?" (the worksheet had animals on it with the English and Spanish name for each.)
Emily: "Yea, I did. I colored for you".
Me: "You did a great job on the horse!", "How do you say horse in Spanish?"
Emily: (silence)
Me: "Is horse el caballo?"
Emily: (laughs and rolls eyes) "No mommy, the horse says naaaay"
