Pictures, video and updates from our family

Thanksgiving Cont.

Here are a some more pictures from our Thanksgiving trip. A friend of Debbie's put together the Pilgrim outfits. Priceless! You can also see some pictures of Emily playing with her new toy from Grandma and Grandpa. Emily loves her new toy, but I think she had the most fun interacting with Samuel and the rest of the family. It was really nice to have the whole family together. Hope to see everyone again soon!

Burrrrrr

It is cold in Houston! I wouldn't take Emily out for a walk at all in this weather if it weren't for Mella. Luckily, the Stroller Fit classes are inside the gym this week or else I might not get any exercise at all. My plan was to walk this morning until Mella went to the bathroom, but she must have known my plan because she took her sweet time. I had Emily in her hat and two blankets. She started to cry just a minute or two into the walk so I headed back to the house. Poor Mella. I don't remember it ever being this cold in Houston for a continuous period of time. Although, I'm glad it is cold enough for Emily to wear her new hat from Mimi. I think she looks pretty darn cute in hat!

Thanksgiving

We had a great trip to Austin for Thanksgiving. Lots of family and good food. I wish we had some photos of Emily with Samuel and some of Emily with her cool new toy from Grandma and Grandpa. But we mostly shot video during the trip and only have a few still photos. I don't know how to post video on the blog - Ben will have to find some time for that. I'm really glad we used the video camera though because we have tons of pictures and a scarce amount of video. If any family members want to send me some still shots from last week to post on the blog, that would be great. In the meantime here are the pics that we do have...

7 months

[nggallery id=28]

There have been a lot of developments and changes in month 7. Emily is now up on all fours and crawling around the house getting into everything. She is crawling from one room to the next with ease and occasionally without detection. I try to steer her away from things that are potentially harmful, but it is fun to watch her make decisions on her own about where she wants to go next. Lately she crawls to anything that she can pull herself up on like coffee tables, sofas, chairs, baskets, window ledges and my least favorite - garbage cans. She has figured out how to pull up on just about everything but she has not yet figured out how to take any steps once she is up there. Hopefully we have some time before that happens because I am still getting used to the crawling.

Emily has started pulling herself up. She does it all day long, on anything she can get her hands on. From what I've heard, it is relatively early for her to be pulling up - she is not yet 7 months! Earlier I was typing an email and all of a sudden her little head popped up over the chair. Ha! She has also just graduated from an army crawl to a traditional crawl. We have a lot of baby proofing to do!

Farm Trip

[nggallery id=27]

We just got back from our second trip to the farm with Emily. This time around Emily was able to get out a lot more and the weather was perfect. The guys spent quite a bit of time hunting and my mom, Emily and I went on lots of walks and spent a lot of time watching Emily master her new and improved crawl. Thanks for a great weekend Mom and Dad. We are looking forward to our trip this Christmas!

Here are a few pics I meant to post a few days ago. Emily is taking her morning nap right now, but I will post a new pic later today.

The picture of Emily reading her book at the grocery store was not staged. I handed her the book to hold onto and she opened it and was looking at it while we strolled through HEB. A lady stopped us to comment and coo over Emily. I'm sure Emily was thinking, "ummm excuse me lady, but can't you see that I am busy reading Five Silly Monkeys!"

Bubbles

We've been enjoying the weather all morning. Stroller Fit class was at Bendwood Park today and Emily smiled the whole time we were there. I think she appreciates the weather just as much as the rest of us. When we got home I decided it was a perfect day to try out some bubbles. I was hoping Emily would like them - but it appears that Mella likes bubbles too!

Uncle Will, thanks for the cool dress from China!

Pumpkins

Emily had a Halloween themed play date on Tuesday and got to show off her pumpkin costume to all her friends. We also stopped by the pumpkin patch for some pictures. You can click on any of the images below to enlarge them for easier viewing.

6 Months

We had Emily's 6 month check up today and everything went very well. She came down with the flu earlier this week ( not fun!) but she was completely recovered today. Emily is now 26 inches long and 14 lbs and 7 oz. That puts her in the 60th percentile for height and 25th percentile for weight. Her weight has dropped down the percentile chart quite a bit since birth, but the doctor assured us that it is not a problem and that she is healthy and growing. It is just a little surprising considering her birth size. I mean, the first thing the doctor said when Emily was born was "Whhoaa, that's a big girl!". So this new petite status is a turn of events. She has some long feet like me though so its not over yet!

Emily's latest development is her ability to scoot/army crawl. She started pulling herself towards toys about a month ago, but it has now progressed to an army crawl. She moves the quickest when I have my back to her or when you place a remote, iphone or laptop on the floor. I guess she takes after her dad and has already developed a love of electronics. She is also sitting up well but cannot pull herself up on her own from laying to sitting yet. But I''m sure that will change soon too.

Jake came over to watch Sunday football with Ben and corrupted my baby girl with Aggie propaganda!

The Robertsons had us over for the Tx-Ou game. Emily was more interested in Reid's cool toys than the game!

Emily took some time today to help manage Ben's fantasy football team.
